Nothing inspires creativity quite like boredom. It's safe to say that, in his hometown of Nantes, Maxime Delpierre must have been bored out of his mind. What could be mistaken for regret is actually quite the opposite, a confession of love: the guitarist has even named his first solo album with his own patronymic in Breton - Naoned. It's a return to his origins in every sense, in search of a city that's more of a dream than a reality, more of a fantasy than a memory, more intimate than it is historical.
At the helm of this power-trio with special guests, the co-founder of Limousine, VKGN and Viva And The Diva embarks on a self-directed biopic of melancholic post-rock, seductive no-wave and ethereal minimalism. With every melody, the guitar tells a tale in so many words, as if Neil Young had composed Stranger Things instead of Dead Man for Jim Jarmusch. With Naoned, Maxime Delpierre presents a cubist self-portrait of a thousand and one faces.
