Contrary to the trends – hip-hop, electronic dance music and indie rock dominated the radio in the late 1990s – Dave's True Story prevailed! The New York duo, consisting of singer Vicky Flint and guitarist and songwriter David Cantor, provided a cool alternative in the charts with their jazzy hipster pop music. Cantor's songs on “Sex Without Bodies,” the duo's debut album for Chesky Records, are funny, sophisticated, cinematic, and peppered with literary allusions. Highlights include the rousing title track, the moving “Ned's Big Dutch Wife” about a woman leading a shocking double life, and the original, jazzy cover version of Lou Reed's classic “Walk On The Wild Side.”

The recording was made at St. Peter's Church in Chelsea and is a unique gem in the Chesky Records catalog. As part of the “Chesky Original Masters” series, Evosound now presents an outstanding reissue of this wonderful album. The 180-gram vinyl (33 RPM) was pressed using the superior One-Step process, which brilliantly showcases Chesky's famous production and recording techniques, and comes with new liner notes.
