Blue Bossa [One Step]
Ana Caram
Brazilian bossa nova and pop jazz singer Ana Caram, who also plays guitar and flute, was born on October 1, 1958, in São Paulo. Caram earned a university degree in composition and conducting in São Paulo and moved to New York in the 1980s. Caram first gained wider recognition when she performed with the famous Paquito D'Rivera at the JVC Jazz Festival at Carnegie Hall in July 1988. This led to a record deal with Chesky Records, and for her first album she was able to enlist the Brazilian bossa nova master Antônio Carlos Jobim to collaborate on songs. She recorded a total of seven more albums for Chesky, including the critically acclaimed “Blue Bossa,” which was first released in 2001.
