In the wake of a horrific car crash, Beck rebounded with "Rough and Ready" ('71) and the Steve Cropper-produced "Jeff Beck Group" ('72). On those two LPs, he fused rock with jazz and soul; he took the approach yet further on his 1975 George-Martin produced masterpiece "Blow by Blow," a #4 LP in the U.S. (his biggest hit).
