LOVE SONGS FOR THE REST OF US, from singer-songwriter Ken Clark, is an interesting heart felt album about love, balancing ballads with up-tempo tracks. Clark's songwriting reflects an original spin on pop music and features strong lyrics that delve deeply into love from all points of view. The result is an album of dazzling creativity, unmatched variety and smart subtlety that very few artists have accomplished. Musically it merges majestic orchestrations with the minimal roots-direction. The mix of songs like 'Worlds Apart' with 'Somthin' Growin' Out My Head', crates a balancing act between "opposites" which is interesting and just right. One might have expected a schizophrenic album because of the variety in the music and the lyrical themes, but in it's own unique way, it's a delicious 40-minute long flow of music that simply asks to be played from start 'till finish.
