Palouse Songbook / Various

This album features great contemporary compositions for flute and piano by six composers. Sophia Tegart, flute, and Michael Seregow, piano, perform these works beautifully. Dr. Sophia Tegart has led a varied and award-winning career as a flutist, musicologist, and clinician. A popular performer, she has been soloist with the Spokane Symphony, the Washington-Idaho Symphony, Chehalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Kansas City Civic Orchestra. As a Yamaha Performing Artist, Tegart has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Competitive internationally, she was a finalist in the Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition and was quarter-finalist in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. A native of the Pacific Northwest, pianist Michael Seregow enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, teacher, and recording artist. Having received national recognition both as a soloist and chamber musician through The American Prize, a national competition in the performing arts, he performs a diverse selection of repertoire from the late Renaissance through works by composers of today. An avid chamber musician, he has performed with nationally and internationally recognized artists in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Honduras, and throughout the United States.
