Daniel Hope's tribute to Alfred Schnittke: Here the world-famous violinist deals with the music of a composer who was one of the most original and fascinating musical voices of the 20th century. And incidentally it is the most beautiful proof that Schnittke has left an oeuvre that is as melodic as it is beautifully sounding and rich in color.

New listeners to Schnittke's music are often amazed at how much works like the suite in the old style relate to the music of the past and use a musical language that Mozart would have recognized. It is not for nothing that Schnittke's elegant explorations of past styles caused almost as much trouble with the ruling powers of his Soviet homeland as his freethinking experiments with modern polystyle.

Together with the pianist Alexey Botvinov, Daniel Hope, who reports in the booklet text of an unforgettable encounter with the then legendary composer at the age of 15, presents a chamber music program of Schnittke full of creativity and energy.
