Adoor Gopalakrishnan
1981 film from Indian director, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, telling the tale of a feudal lord in Kerala. Unni is the lazy, narcissistic head of his family which comprises himself and two siblings. Unable to adapt to the socio-economic changes taking place in early '80s India, he is an anachronism - lost in his own escapist fantasies.
As well as being a story about rural Indian life, the film is also an intricately detailed character study of a man out of time.
