Samuel L. Jackson and Dominic Cooper star in this action thriller directed by Peter Howitt. When District Attorney Mitch Brockton (Cooper) is involved in a fatal hit-and-run, he seizes the opportunity to flee the scene and save his reputation.

After Clinton Davis (Jackson) is found with the body and charged for the murder, Brockton uses his power and position to prove his innocence, all the time making sure not to reveal his own guilt. However, Brockton realises that Davis holds a dark secret about the fateful night and sets about trying to rearrest the man he just cleared.
