Its protagonists are the young Dashwood sisters, who, from opposite characters, share the same desire for the pursuit of happiness. Elinor, calm and patient, trusts to overcome with her discretion the obstacles that prevent her relationship with Edward Ferrars. Impetuous and extroverted, Marianne, on the other hand, does not hesitate to be seduced by the seductive Willoughby. The irony that she uses to give her novels humor makes Jane Austen to be considered among the classics of the English novel, while her reception goes, even today, beyond academic interest, her works being read by a wider audience.
