We learn that while we should have compassion for those in need, it is important to take care of the needs of your own citizens first! They are written to draw you into the story as one of the characters and in the last book there is a surprise ending that you will never see coming! They can be enjoyed by the whole family and will start important conversations with your kids about your familys' beliefs. Look, my parents never taught me any morals or values and I continued the same "family tradition" with my own kids. And the result? I was a true California liberal with a "if it feels good, do it." attitude. This mindset led me and my kids through years of addiction, struggle, heartache and jail. In fact, it's only been in the last few years that we have learned the values that I teach in these books. Our family has since overcome our past, and are a true success story!
