Here we are introduced to Luna, the main character and the writer for the "Beaver Clan Gazette". We learn the history of Snortlings Hollow (a microcosm of America). We also learn about the Beaver Clan (conservative/Republicans) and the Raccoon Clan, (liberal/Democrats) and what each clan stands for. And we find out that even though Snortlings Hollow isn't perfect, Luna has reason to be proud of her township and all that they have achieved! This book has 24 pages of gorgeous photos of the enchanted township of Snortlings Hollow. A miniature land, two years in the making, sure to captivate kids from 9 to 99! Each page is a work of art. They are fun and funny, without insulting the kids' intelligence. And the pictures really help hold their interest. They are written to draw you into the story as one of the characters and in the last book there is a surprise ending that you will never see coming! They can be enjoyed by the whole family and will start important conversations with your kids about your family's beliefs. Look, my parents never taught me any moral or values and I continued the same "family tradition" with my own kids. And the result? I was a true California liberal with a "if it feels good, do it." attitude. This mindset led me and my kids through years of addiction, struggle, heartache and jail. In fact, it's only been in the last few years that we have learned the values that I teach in these books. Our family has since overcome our past, and are a true success story!
