In this futuristic novel, Joe Tullius, taken from an orphanage as a child and now grown and thoroughly indoctrinated, works as an eliminator for The System. At its best, the System is a global police force created to provide order and predictability. Anyone who threatens the System is, simply and quietly, eliminated. Tullius is a trained gunman; he never misses. Stella, another System operator, always has his back. But even a perfect system, in the wrong hands, can become a threat to the human race. Members of the Movement, a loose underground network of insurgents who prefer freedom, threaten the heavy-handed control of the System. Maria, a beautiful and clever Movement operative, has been marked for elimination. But this time Joe hesitates... What unimaginable System projects are now threatening the very existence of the human race, and how do Tullius and Maria ultimately react?
