Pra?na Upani?ad, one of the principal Upani?ads, consists of six chapters each dedicated to a question asked by one of the six sages (Suke?a, Satya-k?ma, Sauray???, Kausalya, Vaidarbhi and Kabandh?) to Pippal?da covering various topcis. The origin of the living beings along with the cheif devat? (pr??a) that support the bodies of the living beings are discussed in the first two chapters. In the next two chapters, the origin and activities of pr??a along with the state of senses and j?va during sleep are discussed. The destinations of different persons who meditate on o?k?ra with different m?tras, as well as a discussion about who is the actual creator of the sixteen parts of the material world are described in the last two chapters.
