This book is believed to be one of the primary sources used by William Shakespeare in Macbeth's production. Shakespeare attributed many quotes and rituals found within the book directly to the Weird Sisters, but he also attributed the Scottish themes and settings referenced in the trials in which King James was involved. King James was also a practitioner of necromancy.
