Liz Warner had always wanted to be a mother, but after years of infertility treatments to no avail, her marriage is over. With no husband in sight, she decides to adopt to make her own family. Though she has given up on a traditional happy ever after, she becomes friends with the father of a troubled teenaged girl who works part time in her decorating shop. Sparks fly. Widower Dave Morgan doesn't have time for romance. With three kids, and a job, just getting through the day is a juggernaut. Then he gets to know Liz Warner who has shown an interest in his daughter, Jennifer. Though he resists getting involved, he is smitten. When Jennifer finds herself pregnant, it is the end of her world. With dashed dreams of college, career and future, she needs an older woman to guide her. She confides in Liz who helps her work though her confusion. Though Liz desperately wants to adopt Jennifer's baby, she is reluctant to influence her in any way. Then Jennifer, knowing that she isn't ready to have a child and of Liz's desire to have a child of her own, offers the baby to her. Dave and Liz become closer as Jennifer comes to term in her pregnancy. With the prospect of sharing Jennifer's child, can Dave and his family join Liz's. Can they come together for what's best for all and have a happy ever after?
