The Carnival is Over
Kenneth Jaikaransingh
This varied collection of short stories run the gamut from satire to poignant recollection to amusing anecdote.
They are located in the author's native Trinidad ad Tobago, and draw heavily on local landscape and material, with a rich diversity of characters and experiences.
'There is both wit and melancholy around these stories. They suggest something lost, something unrealized, sometimes regret. They are all superbly crafted.'
'Most of these stories are drawn from the author's childhood. They speak nostalgically to childhood, innocence, another life.'
