Globally, there has been increase in daycare and orphanage centres due to workforce demands, parent mortality rates, poverty and other social vices. Hence, the sanitary status of these Daycare and orphanage centres becomes a grooming concern to public health in Nigeria. This study was aimed to survey for pathogenic enteric bacteria from stool specimens of children from selected Daycare and Orphanage centres in Kaduna, Nigeria. Information on sanitary and environmental status of these selected study centres were obtained using direct observations and oral interview. The Collection of the stool specimens were done in badges from each study centre to the Laboratory and isolation of pathogenic enteric bacteria was done using EMB agar, SSA and MacConkey agar using standard laboratory method, while the identification of the bacterial isolates was done using phenotypic and molecular (genotypic) approaches. An M.sc project research on enteropathogenic bacteria isolates from stool specimens Daycare and Orphanage centres within kaduna metropolis, Nigeria .
