Pragmatics and Common Ground in Translation Gülfidan Aytas

Within the scope of this study named "Pragmatics In Translation and Common Ground"; the translation studies and pragmatics have been reviewed in terms of committing the realization of communication action to prove the existence of common elements between these two disciplines and also an answer was sought for determining the contribution of pragmatics onto the act of translation. The existence of common ground into the act of translation, which is an important component for not only in explanation of the pragmatics' subjects but also in communication process, was examined and the influence of this information has been tried to be emphasized by illustrating it with the examples especially on document translation. Pragmatics is a science field that I have learnt from the linguistics classes and has always drawn my attention considerably in regard to provide convenience in communication. I started to feel the impression of pragmatics on every action and statement in daily life thereafter my interest has increased in pragmatics.
