It takes a lot of courage and determination to step out of your own culture and enter an unknown terrain where a new languageg and culture not only makes it a challenge for you to survive academically and in daily life, they also determine how far you can go in your future career. As Anne Morrow Lindbergh vividly puts it, "Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after." For many English as a foreign language students, development of good communication skills is akin to developing a tast for the black coffee: exciting but with bitterness only you yourself can feel, and you have to live with it.
