Kashmir Himalaya is an active phytochorion, an important centre of plant distribution in north? west Himalaya. It harbors a rich repository of medicinal flora. The resurgence of interest of herbal cure all around the world has brought medicinal plants under threat and the rate of loss is shockingly high at three species per hour. In this scenario a scientific programme for the conservation of biodiversity, is the need of hour. Owing to unique and high value medicinal properties of Aconitum, the species of this genus has been facing also an onslaught of indiscriminate and ruthless exploitation since times immemorial. In this backdrop the study has been undertaken where by this potent medicinal plant of Kashmir valley ?Aconitum where subjected to tissue culture studies, cytology, taxonomy and chemical investigation and documented in the present book.
