Hydatid Cyst should be kept in mind when a cystic lesion is encountered anywhere in the body. It can arise in any part of the body the bloodstream reaches. Hydatid disease is a dynamic entity with varying imaging appearances. Early detection with imaging modalities helps in reducing the incidence of various complications like rupture, dissemination into hollow viscera, peritoneal and pleural seedling thus preventing the severe anaphylaxis associated with this disease and early surgical intervention as required. Adult hydatid tapeworms can be eliminated from the intestines using tapeworm-specific anti-cestodal medications such as praziquantel.
