Pineapple is the second harvest of importance after bananas, contributing to over 20 % of the world production of tropical fruits. Uganda is the number one fruit producing nation in Africa. The country is suitable and has abundant potential to produce mangoes, citrus, pineapples, tomatoes and a host of many vegetables. The average yield is estimated at 15 MT/ha although better management can result in higher yields. Pineapple generates substantive income to growers and the fruits gives several processing products all of which will be understood after reading through this book.
