Autonomy of Language: an East-west Perspective
Tripti Dhar
The book tries to strike a note of conciliation between the voices of East of core and those of the West of modern times. The work also highlights in what sense the components of language, such as, syntax, semantics, phonology and morphology are allied with each other in order to produce meaning of a sentence in different levels. Component of language have been discussed accordingly with some sort of commonality. Metaphysical relevance and epistemological sense of autonomy of language as evidenced in writings of four philosophers too have come up during the discussion. Discourse holism has also been taken into consideration.
