Globalization and Nigeria: the Plight of a Weak State Tochukwu Nwosu

The world as is said has soon become a global village due to the implications of the globalization phenomenon. As individual states are positioned to actualize their national interest in the international arena, other actors are not at all left out in this power tussle. These interests, often selfish, are engendered through the activities of the state actors and their agencies; especially, the Multinational Corporations (MNCs). Globalization in reality is the outcome of these interactions between the states and the other actors (MNCs inclusive) in their quest to strike a balance in their individual, personal and selfish pursuits. This book is an in-depth and empirical study on the reason the Nigerian state is alleged weak and their plight in this globalization plethora. The book went further to avert the long held assumption that colonialism climaxed in imperialism is the reason the Nigerian state has remained weak. Suggestions were made on the way forward to diversify the Nigerian economy from its monolithic nature of total dependence on the proceeds of crude oil production. This book would be beneficial to both the academics and the freelance public.
