This pragmatic analysis of spoken discourse gives insights into the communicative interactional linguistic performance and conventions used within everyday spoken language. The interlocutors, as participants of a community using linguistic interaction as its modus operandi, apply a vast set of rules and linguistic behaviour patterns in order to communicate, convey information, maintain a conversation, and signal all sorts of "codes" which are indispensable in spoken interaction.
