Valerie Eastbrook has been married to James Eastbrook for a few years now. She met him on a ski trip shortly after her parents died. They started dating and a few months later, she married him. James is a Criminal Defense Lawyer, who has late meetings with colleagues and clients and tends to stay out late drinking. He has a tendency to come home late at night, drunk. On those nights, he tends to get a little rough with Valerie. Meanwhile, Valerie is tired of the way James acts when he comes home late on those nights. As those drunken nights get to be more frequent, James starts to become more violent and Valerie starts to fear for her life. Then one night, after James goes a little too far, Valerie decides that she's had enough. She hops on a bus and heads as far away from James as she possibly can. After a four day bus ride, she ends up on the opposite corner of the United States from James. Will Valerie be able to hide from James forever, or will James find her? Will Valerie be able to enjoy her freedom and finally have a normal, happy life or will James find her? If James does find Valerie, will Valerie be ready for him and be prepared to fight back?
