Space utilization has a lot of influence on the way that occupants of the space view the value that is placed on them. Density can be stifling while spaciousness can promote creativity and organizational growth. True as that statement is, there is a reality of creative thought that can change use and optimize benefit. While not easy, the stakes are high in prison, and that is true for the prisons, the prisoners, the prison staff's families, the prisoner's families, the taxpayer and their families, the government agencies, the states and municipalities, the national government and our society as a whole. We must change the system, and we will but the big question is -"How many lives will be diminished by the chaos that exists until we start the necessary changes?" We are all in the boat, and it is sinking.
