Yancy and Gen return from their honeymoon to tackle the big question: how to have a family. Through the anxiety of pregnancy, they finally decide to adopt a child, and enter the long, tedious process of classes, interviews, and home visits to be approved.




In the meantime, Yancy's mom starts seeing the governor, and one of Gen's rural fellows, Bobbi Webster, begins seeing Erin, their priest. Gen helps Bobbi deal with her PTSD from a past abusive relationship.




Finally, a young boy arrives for adoption. Yancy and Gen deal with his trauma, getting help from family and friends, while also confronting medical crises for both the governor and Bobbi.




Yancy goes through many changes. Will she and Gen be able to ride through the rough places of life together?
