The stories in this collection were written over many years. Some are set in Australia, others in The Netherlands and the UK, in the past, present and future. In STUFFED! Fritz Carter, on the death of his wife, starts a new life as an opal prospector at Lightning Ridge. He buys a deserted mine, but finds working it too taxing, so he employs Ted Mallet, a local rouseabout to do the digging. He follows his dream of creating an underground taxidermist museum in the mine.. The two men soon clash which leads to a disastrous climax.
