As an artist, I have often struggled to find ways to use my artistic gift within the church. Art and creativity are often misunderstood or undervalued as a legitimate way to server the Lord and to communicate the truth found in the Scripture. Plainly put, many folks think artist are weird! And we may be! After several years in ministry I have discovered that I am not alone my struggles. Where do creative types fit into the church when it comes to using their gifts? Does the church really need art? "Why the Church Needs Art" is a journey involving the Biblical truths, examples, my struggles and my personal testimony that hopefully will encourage other Christians to use their gifts for the Kingdom. "Why the Church Needs Art" covers topics such as: How can I use my gift to serve God? Where does art fit into the work of the Kingdom of God? Why does the church need to view artist and creative ministry as a viable way to disciple others and evangelize the lost? Ultimately the reading leads us to the most important issue, that our giftedness, making great art, and being creative are not the most important things, but pointing others to a loving Savior that died to set us free from our sins is the greatest gift of all.
