The fisherman is about marrying a blind maiden fromthe neighboring village, and all forces are united against his efforts. This play is opened with a poetic prologue performed inform of some soft music using native instruments like sambaand other types of local drums, shekere, thumb piano, bamboo flutes, slit drums, etc. Throughout theromantic-comedy, the audience will learn somethingabout the major problems facing Africa in particular, and the world at large. Societal problems ranging fromthe outright rejection or gross marginalization of disabled ones, the elevation of money and physical beauty over virtue, certain ancient and backward traditions, to even terrorism and human trafficking, in some way, are all outlined in this play. And those who carry outsuch vices are called "foes of civilization" in this dramatization.
