It is late in the summer and all is not well at Castlebridge Hall. Even months after the scandal that saw the dismissal of the Hall's housekeeper, the Hall still has to find a replacement. The Hall's small army of maids is taking advantage of the vacuum of power and the overworked butler is spending half his time caning them for their transgressions. Lord Castlebridge, when his attention can be diverted from his beautiful and submissive secretary, thinks he has a solution in the form of a strict Scottish lady to fill the vacant post. The proposed appointment alarms Lady Castlebridge, however, for the prospective candidate's rigid religious beliefs will bring her into conflict with the Hall maids' sexual dalliances with each other.

Even as she leaps into the fray to circumvent her husband's appointee however, Lady Castlebridge finds herself distracted by an old school friend and a class reunion bringing back painful memories of her old school days when the grand lady of Castlebridge Hall was too often obliged to lower her knickers for the cane.
