Author and photographer Tom Duffy tells the story of what he learned after following one sustainable, pasture farming family in Indiana for more than a year. The Howard family have a small farm where they raise, butcher, and sell cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens. Core to the story is the commitment of this family to being good stewards of the land and to the health of their community and animals while also being profitable. Duffy examines the philosophy guiding the work on the farm and how their family life is integrated into the farming process. With photographs and text, Duffy documents the farming process, the positive impact of that process on the land, and how family life and farming are integrated.
