Most children grow up hearing stories about a haunted house that everyone avoided; not everyone lived in that house. The stories are very different from the inside looking out. Shadow of Fear, Curtis Myer's haunting and heartbreaking book, is based on his real life experience being raised in a haunted house, and depicts his family's survival and ultimate triumph over the evil that plagued their home throughout his childhood. In the late 1960s, the house, the yard and the picket fence was still the American Dream. The house on Fourth Street in La Grande, Oregon promised that to the Myer family, but their hopes were short-lived. Violent spirits continuously preyed upon members of the family, spreading pain and fear. Protected by their mother's enduring faith, the family faced the vicious spirits clinging to the house while battling the evils of the world that threatened to destroy them.
