Tyler Holcomb invites Avery Fox and the Crawford family to spend a two-week vacation in the McDougal Cabin on Clearview Lake in the picturesque village of Clearview Park. The friends become entangled in an age-old murder mystery along with the more recent crime involving an unscrupulous land developer. Although Katie McDougal and her brother, Alex must sell their childhood home, Katie is reluctant to permit the destruction of the cabin to allow a resort for the wealthy to be built on the site.
