Perspectives on Life
Mohamed Rabie
Mohamed Rabie was born in Yazour, Palestine, where in 1948 he was driven from his home with his family to make way for the formation of the state of Israel. He grew up as a child in a refugee camp near Jericho, Palestine and went on to become a professor and author. Rabie has taught at eleven universities on four continents and lived among a variety of cultures. Perspectives on Life is a collection of essays and reflections on the traditional, changeless past; on the political and ideological turmoil of the present; and on the strange currents of change shaping the future. The author's insights and perceptions are shaped by a unique life experienced under socio-economic structures including hunter-gatherer, tribal, agricultural, industrial, and knowledge economies. Rabie has taken lessons from birds, animals, and nature itself and from the many innocent and great minds he has encountered along life's path.
