Lighting Design Awareness--Composition: Understanding and Advancing the Art of Landscape Lighting Design Mark Carlson

Lighting Design Awareness is a refreshingly new approach for the undefined trade practice of landscape lighting design. This book is the first of a three-part series dedicated to the advancement of this artform. It introduces the foundational building block of 'composition.' Never before has this profession considered this line of thinking or to this extent. It also describes the common flaws exhibited today. Additionally, it teaches designers how to use a design critique as a tool and means towards developing practical skills. Consider the following, simple questions... Are your lighting designs effective? And... Are you recognized by your peers? Each of these is telling about well you are performing today. There are many highly skilled practitioners performing this work who provide wonderful lighting applications. Of these, there are very few who can ensure a 'good' lighting design based on the principles of composition. For this reason, the landscape lighting design profession is not taken seriously, as compared to those working in landscape architecture, lighting design, and architecture--this is a problem. This book series establishes the proper understanding of this trade, as an art form. Our value and contribution to society will be seen by the positive solutions we can provide to human well-being. The only way to gain this level of respect and recognition is by being able to perform to this new, and higher standard. This series is a must-have for anyone serious about this discipline. Not only is this content good for the landscape lighting profession, but it's also valuable to any segment of the lighting and architectural communities.
