Twelve-year-old Jamie Dexter spends summers with his two great-aunts at their cottage on Sprite Island in Eagle Lake, Ontario. On the day that he and his best friend, Billy, revisit the Point, an eerie and abandoned property at the rugged end of their small island, his life begins to change dramatically. The Point has always intrigued him, and soon will play a role in understanding the mysterious disappearance of his father six years before. The boy also spends time with Uncle Gerald Baker, the island's favourite old man, who teaches him that people are spiritual beings with the power to direct their own lives. After a near disaster, and with the help of Uncle Gerald's cool granddaughter, Darby, Jamie applies the old man's wisdom to uncover some startling truths. Mystery on Sprite Island is a satisfying thriller that brings sleuthing and spirituality to new heights. About the Author: K. M. Kearney lives in Kitchener, Ontario. "I think many kids feel they don't have power over their own lives. I want them to know that they have everything they need within themselves." She is inspired by the knowledge that we are not put on earth as solitary beings. "We have a network of spiritual connections to sustain us. All we have to do is tap into them." This is the first of three books she has written in the series. Publisher's website: http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/MysteryOnSpriteIsland.html
