This workbook leads health practitioners, scientists, and advocates through the process of using human-centered design to create communications campaigns. It was created after spending more than twenty years learning about the communications and innovation needs of health organizations like the National Institutes of Health, the Gates Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control, ministries of health in over a dozen nations, and departments of health in over a dozen US cities. And, now, after spending the past three years as a designer at IDEO. Although the workbook is intended for students of our Health Communications course at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health, all are welcome to use it.
