Vartkes M. Kassouni's eighty-six years have been full of gifts and trials. His unique life, guided by powerful faith, has been a slow lesson in the importance of change.



Many of his early years were spent learning to adapt to a variety of religious, social, and cultural ideas. Each single event, conversation, and encounter shaped the minister, husband, and father he has become.



His messages come from his personal experience, including his Armenian identity, and through working in nonethnic churches and social groups, Kassouni has expanded his concept of community. From a conservative theological framework, he has shifted to a more inclusive stance, where all are welcome, and all are loved.



Life is defined by what makes it ugly as well as what makes it beautiful. It is true and false, up and down. And, by the grace of God, it is ours to fully live.
