In the upcoming presidential election, two candidates have the perfect demographics to serve as the next President of the United States, except that one of them is a Russian mole. He infiltrated a prominent Washington family when he was a teen. David Matthews, a writer and journalist, who had worked in the past as a CIA operative, reluctantly agrees to be hired as speechwriter for Brad Douglas, the other candidate. Matthew falls in love with Brad's wife, Anne, and is apprehensive at the possible repercussions when she ultimately learns the truth about her husband and his role in this scenario.
