Our Family Garden, A Book of Poetry, came from Beryl's and Marlene's love of poetry. Though they had many years between their ages, they shared a common bond in the love of words. The five categories of the book are Love Enters; Love Departs, Family Love; Faith Love, and Bonus Odes. Love Enters deals with the joys of love. It addresses young love, summer love, single love, married love, flirty love. "Love Departs" is what one might expect. It demonstrates the loss of love, the loneliness from the lack of love, and the fear of the pain lost love can bring. The chapter on Family Love contains both joy and sorrow. These are strong emotions that celebrate the life of a loved one or mourn the loss of a beloved. My Aunt Beryl and I enjoyed discussing our faith together. We shared devotional readings at times. You will find some of our reflections in this section. The final chapter, Bonus Odes, includes various poems about life, social issues, and words of encouragement.
