Secelia Tolbert is the single mother of April and Mike Tolbert. The day she was born she was faced with medical issues and a childhood that led her to become a self-sufficient, independent mother. Divorced after the first year of marriage, she was forced to raise her children alone. Not wanting them to get caught up in the system, she worked two sometimes three jobs to provide for her family. Now, as she reflects back on her life, she is proud of the successfulness of her children and the careers that they have chosen. Her daughter is the mother of two wonderful young girls, has her MBA in Business Administration, and is the Human Resource Generalists for the city that Secelia lives. Her son is in his tenth year with the NFL and plays for the Buffalo Bills. He is married with two children and he and his wife are expecting their third child. The journey that life took Secelia and her family on is a road with many curves and turns, but she looks up to God and says Thank You. For if it had not been for the Lord, there is no telling where she would be today.
