During the course of time, Platonic friendships have provided fertile soil for 'unrequited love' and 'emotional affairs.' The object of unrequited love or an emotional affair is quite often a friend or acquaintance, someone regularly encountered in the workplace, during the course of work, school or other activities involving groups of people. An 'unrequited love' environment may be quite uncomfortable and can becomes a situation in which the admirer has difficulty in expressing his/her true feelings due to potential rejection as well as embarrassment and the loss of contact with the beloved. The lack of ability of the unrequited lover to express his/her emotional needs may often lead to feelings of depression, low self-esteem, and anxiety; and perhaps abrupt mood swings vacillating between depression and euphoria. It has been stated by many that there is nothing worse than realizing you truly desire someone and knowing you can never have him or her. * * * On the other hand, an emotional affairs especially between coworkers may or may not lead to a physical (sexual) affair. Even if it remains purely emotional, it can be devastating to a marriage relationship. Best advice - be cautious with that first lunch, gifts, and perhaps drinks at a nearby lounge. Remember one or both of you are married. * * * A Married Lady Typically we start the day together often with a warm breakfast treat, A steamy mug of vanilla latte or a hot cup of chamomile tea A warm ham and cheese croissant so very succulent to the taste, We work throughout the day and in evening depart in haste I think of her as we travel knowing that soon we will be home, Dinner and prep for tomorrow perhaps a tad of strong libation She joins her husband, her children a lady so beautiful, a wife so fine, For she is a married woman but to my chagrin, not mine
