Sent Ones: if Jesus Led Your Next Mission Team...: What Would You Do? Where Would He Take You? Rev John Peter Overholt

Publisher Marketing: Beware! This book could change how you do missions. "It is a fantastic resource for everyone desirous of being a blessing to other nations and only wish I had it twenty years ago!" Dr. Theodore (Ted) Vail Associate Director of Foursquare Missions International. What if Jesus was the leader of your next mission trip? What would you do? Where would He take you? This book gets to the very heart and core of the Short-Term Missions movement. It gets back to the simple and yet very powerful commission of Jesus to go and make disciples. It is His mission. We are the Sent Ones. John Overholt is not a stranger to missions. After being involved in over seventy short term mission trips and serving, with his wife Debbie, for over eight years as Canadian Foursquare missionaries in Central America, he has learned a few things along the way. John writes, "The Short Term Mission Movement is here to stay. I see great value in Short Term Mission trips and am highly respectful of those who have sacrificed time and resources to reach beyond their borders to minister where culture and language are foreign. Mission groups can be a great encouragement and help when pointed in the right direction. I have discovered that the success of a mission team depends upon several key ingredients that need to be incorporated into the philosophy and strategy of a church's mission program. There is great potential for long term results. If you have a heart for missions, this book will provide valuable insights on how you can begin to develop strategies that will enable short term mission trips to build upon in each other and establish long term relationships with church members and leaders who you are partnering with on the mission field. My prayer is that this book will challenge and encourage you to rethink the way you do missions.
