Today we'll examine China's information control practices and the implications for the United States. Specifically, our panels will address information about U. S. listed Chinese companies, developments in China's "state secret" laws and regulations, and freedom of information on the Internet with emphasis on the search engine Baidu. Chinese firms increasingly raise capital by listing on U. S. exchanges. This means more than ever that corporate governance standards and the management structure of Chinese companies have direct serious implications for U. S. investors.
