Ana 'ole Polynesian Tattoo: Modern Interpretations of Traditional Polynesian Tattoo
Roland Pacheco
Ana'ole Polynesian tattoo is a modern interpretation of traditional Polynesian tattoo. This book includes over 140 illustrations and definitions of symbols used in Polynesian tattoo. This is intended as an artist's reference but can be enjoyed by anyone interested in the Polynesian culture or the art of tattoo. Written and illustrated by a working tattoo artist that lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, this fascinating book delves into the history and concepts behind the Ana'ole style tattoo. A departure from traditional, 2-dimensional Polynesian tattoo art, Ana'ole uses high detail, 3-dimensional imagery and unique mathematical formulas such as The Golden Ratio and Fibonacci Sequences, to create tattoos which can reflect a person's story or history.
