When I retired, it occurred to me to put the story of my life in writing. I deliberated quite a bit, and spent many hours thinking about it, yet upon reaching the age of 80, I finally decided to do so. I reached the conclusion that the time had come to write my family history and that of my wife, and so I did. Yet alongside the need to look back at my past, I had another objective in writing my memoirs: I wanted to bequeath to my children, grandchildren, and those who will come after them their family story; to make available to them a document via which they can get to know their ancestors and their roots. My story, that of Yefet Ben Amots, and that of my wife Shosh Yaakobi Ben Amots, covers 80 years, from birth to my 80th birthday, which we recently celebrated.
