See below for English description.
Little kids adore making wishes and letting their imaginations run wild. Jean Little's grandmother sometimes squelched her wishes with this centuries-old saying - If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. But Little stands the adage on its head, as the wishes come true - no matter how simple or outrageous - and are shared with friends and family alike.
A familiar saying meant to curb wishes is turned on its head as children do one of their very favourite things - making wishes! They go fishing, make snow angels, play with puppies, become knights, blow bubbles, eat banana splits, go to ballgames . . . and end up at Gran's for an afternoon treat.
